Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading environmental science and planning firm, announced today that Scheda Ecological Associates (Scheda), a Florida-based environmental permitting and ecosystem management consulting firm, has joined ESA. The merger supports ESA’s strategy to deepen technical expertise and meet growing client demands for responsive and high quality environmental services throughout Florida and elsewhere in the Southeast.

“Having partnered with Scheda over the years on a variety of projects, we have had the opportunity to see that we share similar goals, values, and commitment to our clients and our work,” said Leslie Moulton-Post, president of ESA.

Julie Sullivan, the firm’s southeast regional director, adds, “The convergence of our firms allows us to better serve the region, adding expertise and manpower to meet the growing needs in Florida and along the Gulf Coast.

Scheda, now known as ESA Scheda, has been providing comprehensive NEPA environmental support, ecosystem restoration, and environmental permitting consulting services for more than 27 years. The merger will continue to build upon Scheda’s excellent reputation for providing innovative, cost-effective solutions to water management districts, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), estuary programs, ports, and local counties and municipalities. By combining forces, ESA Scheda, as the new entity will be known, will operate out of our Florida offices in Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota, Destin, and Delray Beach.

“The opportunities ahead for ESA Scheda are limitless, and we are very excited to be a part of this team,” says Sandy Scheda, president and founder of Scheda.

Scheda co-owner Thomas Ries notes, “I am also thrilled that our talented staff will have a broader reach to make a positive impact in the care of our environment and its resources.”
