For 27 years we have been serving the Florida Department of Transportation in all Districts, including the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.  Our experience includes many PD&E, design, and design-build projects.  We also routinely provide environmental and landscape inspection support services to construction and maintenance teams.  For PD&E studies, our scientists can complete the following study components, along with the related reports:  wetlands, protected species, essential fish habitat, water quality, Section 4(f), farmlands, and contamination screening evaluation.  In addition, we have served as the technical writers for the environmental document compilation for CatEx, EA/FONSI, and EIS levels of documentation.  For design projects, we routinely lead the permitting efforts, including ERP, Section 404 and USCG Bridge Permits.  In the construction arena, we have supported projects in the areas of wetlands, protected species, water quality, permit compliance, and landscape inspection.

ESA Scheda’s team of professionals also has extensive experience in the field of habitat mapping, restoration, and design having overseen or designed thousands of acres of freshwater and estuarine habitats.  We have provided habitat restoration design services for the SWFWMD SWIM Program, SFWMD, Sarasota Bay Estuary Program (SBEP), Tampa Bay Estuary Program (TBEP), FDEP, and Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Collier, Charlotte, Franklin, Okaloosa and Escambia counties.  In addition, we have completed a variety of Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program, Acceler8, Lake Okeechobee Fast Track, Regional Offsite Mitigation Area development, and RESTORE Act projects.

Finally, we are unique in that our ecological team also includes professional photo-interpreters.  These specialists have completed mapping related to shoreline position, FLUCFCS, canopy damage (from hurricanes), urban canopy, seagrass, and aquatic vegetation for whole-lake restoration projects and the Stormwater Treatment Areas owned by SFWMD (40,000+ acres).  Some of these assignments included GIS-based trend analysis.
