Existing data and digital aerial photography, combined with ground-level data collection using GIS, form the foundation for producing accurate site mapping. ESA Scheda’s photointerpreters have mapped wetland/upland boundaries, coastal boundaries, land use/land cover, and vegetation.  Vegetation mapping has included seagrass, CERP stormwater treatment area (STA) emergent and submergent vegetation, canopy cover/hurricane damage, NWI, and FLUCCS. These projects have entailed the use of various different photointerpretation (PI) keys and, in some cases, development and documentation of a new PI key.  In addition, we have completed regional groundtruthing efforts for land use/land cover, seagrass, oyster and hard bottom mapping verification (boundaries and photo signatures). 
ESA Scheda has the capability to employ Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology; these drones are utilized for site recon, specifically for aerial imagery capture for vegetative mapping purposes.  This solution provides a very inexpensive option to obtaining high-resolution geo-rectified imagery.  With this technology, we can fly below the tree canopy and still assemble a continuous geo-rectified high-res image, which can then be photo-interpreted for mapping and trend analysis purposes.  Our staff hold the latest FAA approvals for UAV operation and also carry insurance coverage for use of these UAVs.

With regard to design services, ESA Scheda professionals work in Microstation, AutoCAD and ArcGIS environments, and routinely provide wetland mitigation and habitat restoration final design plans for our clients.  Our professionals are skilled in:
